Review of The Orthodox Church by Timothy Ware
A chapter-by-chapter review of The Orthodox Church by Timothy Ware, a bishop in the Eastern Orthodox Church, written to give “a clear, detailed introduction to the Orthodox Church.” The review notes that the book gives one sentence in 327 pages to Christ dying to pay the penalty for our sins, and that sentence says Orthodoxy does not accept it. Using the book’s own history, it questions the claims of changelessness and apostolic succession, and answers its teaching on theosis and sacraments from Scripture.
